Our History

The Floyd Methodist Church was a church created in the late 1800s. The location of the church was down the road from the current location, located on Old Floyd Road. With a growing population, the congregation of the church had outgrown this location, and decided to build the current location in the late 1960s. 

This new location was designed to have a large educational wing, a fellowship hall, two bathrooms, and a large sanctuary. The building was planned to be made out of brick with a large cross placed on the front. 

Some work was done by the congregation. This included all interior and exterior painting, the installation of the flooring, some ceiling, the installation of electrical fixtures, and landscape.

The organ, pews, and some other furniture was brought from the old church. Members donated items for the education rooms, fellowship hall, and the kitchen. 

Consecration of new Floyd Methodist Church was scheduled for Sunday, October 18, 1970. Members paraded from the Old Floyd Road church, down Route 365 to the current location of the church. The 

Congregation moved principal items for worship into the new church following the last service in the 

previous church. Pastor David Simmons was the first minister in the current church.
